A little history for those of you that haven't been with me since the beginning. The Altered Past began in 2009 as a way for me to share my mixed media art and vintage items.
Oh my! I was such the blogger adolescent! |
Over time, I began blogging about things other than my art. Posts on home decor and thrift store shopping and DIY projects.
Some of my early altered art projects. |
That's where it's been heading for a while now and it feels right. It's what I love and what I think I was created to do.
One of the first things I changed in this house was an ugly contractor grade light fixture in the kitchen. I found this one on Craigslist. (notice the date on the photo!) |
While creating altered art is a part of me too, it felt limiting. I wanted to create in all sorts of areas. Are you a creative soul? If you are, you understand when I say I need to create. I have to create. I love to create.
So, over the course of the past 6 years and this blog evolving more into one of home decor and DIY projects, I began thinking of a new name. One that would better represent what my posts are about...changing and decorating the house we bought on Spain Hill in 2005 into a home on 8 acres with a large pond (my favorite view each morning), a big basement garage with lots of power tools to use, loads of now-beautified contractor grade features, 6 chickens in the pen, 3 dogs in the house, 2 cats on the deck, and a partridge in a fig tree. Ha! Just kidding about the partridge.
I hope you like the new name. I promise that's all that's changed. You can still access the blog from the original web address http://thealteredpast.blogspot.com or the new one spainhillfarm.com.
There are a few of you that have been here from the beginning and I really appreciate it. I've gained quite a few more of you over the years and I'm so thankful to have you with us!! You all mean SO much to me!!
Thanks for stopping by and God bless!!
