Get Crafty for Fall

With October being the "new June" for weddings, I've got several bridal showers and weddings I'll be attending soon.  That means finding just the right gift for the newlyweds.  I think I found a few!

Recently my daughter and I visited The Pottery Place at The Avenue.  Have you seen their selection?!  So many choices and the perfect place to create something special for the couple.  Don't just think fall crafts or wedding gifts, the holidays are quickly approaching.  Now is a great time to think about that gift list.

pottery place, spain hill farm,

My daughter chose a coffee mug and painted it a beautiful aqua, black, and gray combination.  She personalized it with her inital too.

I chose a cake stand to use at an upcoming shower.  The theme is going to be "She's beginning a new adventure.  Going from Miss to Mrs." with vintage maps as the decor.  Since the cake plate is round, I thought it would look nice painted like a globe.  I also painted Isaiah 6:3b "The whole earth is filled with His glory." around the bottom.

Another great place to get crafty with friends and family are the painting studios.  My oldest daughter, best friend Lisa, and I booked our studio time for Painting With A Twist's Paint Your Own Pet event.  If you're not familiar with these type of studios, here's how it works.  You make your reservation for the event (meaning you choose the date that's offering the painting you would like to paint), gather a friend or two or ten, grab your favorite beverage (alcohol is permitted), maybe some snacks, and come enjoy your time as a trained artist provides your with the supplies you'll need and walks you step by step through the painting process!  No painting experience needed!

I painted the Old Man (aka Toby) on the far right.  He's about 13 and missing several teeth but he's my buddy.  His portrait is sitting on the mantel right now, along with my daughter's painting (far left) of our Schnauzer, Annabelle.  Haven't decided on where they will be hanging yet.  Stay tuned ;)

So, are you ready to get crafty!? I'll be sharing other fall craft ideas this month!

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!
Angie

  1. Angie, these pet portraits are super cute! I've ever thought about renting studio space like that for a party but it's a great idea especially if you can bring snacks for all of your creative friends :) Hugs, Coco
